Join Jen Ward, owner of Being Elemental and learn more about Pilates and Chinese Medicine Cupping/Gua Sha/Acupressure in this interactive workshop where you will walk away with an at home care routine!

Pilates strengthens the core muscles, helps our flexibility, eases joints, decreases pain, improves focus and reduces stress. Joseph Pilates often said by practicing his method the organs would experience an internal shower and when practiced correctly the exercises can have a profound effect on all the systems in the body.

Cupping is trendy now, but it’s not new. This ancient modality can be used for modern ailments. Cupping and Gua Sha fiispel “stagnation” below the skin, such as stagnant blood and lymph, and improves the flow of energy throughout the body. A vacuum, or suction is created inside of a cup pressed on the skin. It is different from massage in that, rather than the muscles being pressed down, they are pulled up. By pulling the muscle and the fascia we can “break up” the tense muscle. The improved circulation from these modalities helps increase recovery time for strained muscles and help them heal if they have been overused.

We will review how to also use tools from Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda for Acupuncture and Marma points. Fortunately, you can utilize all these tools at home in addition to your care with practitioners!
